Printer Magic

Printers. A simple machine linked to a computer that we all use to print text and photos we love. Have you ever been on a printing tear for months, and out of nowhere, the printer stops communicating with the computer, and you don’t know why? It just worked, right? Well, you are not alone. When you run into this, here are some remedies to help soothe your throbbing headache:

1. Make sure that your computer and printer are on the same WiFi network. Many times, the computer, in its infinite wisdom, may connect you to another WiFi network available in your location without you knowing. It’s built into the OS for convenience but becomes annoying when you must be on a specific network to connect to your printer.

2. Make sure your computer and printer are on the same WiFi network. Many times the computer, in its infinite wisdom, may connect you to another WiFi network available in your location without you knowing. It’s built into the OS for convenience but becomes annoying when you must be on a specific network to get to your printer.

3. Make sure your printer is turned on. Sounds elementary but you will be amazed at how many times the printer lost power due to a faulty power strip, power surge, or breaker tripping.

Change the printer configuration to a static IP address in your network versus a dynamic IP address. This is more advanced, and not only will it fix your issue, but it will create a more stable printing environment. This change guarantees the computer can always find your printer at the same location.
